August Trip to Michigan, Part 2

The second week of our trip was spent at a cottage in Baldwin, Michigan with our friends, Megan and Scott. It was so beautiful and relaxing. Every single day was sunny and about 80 degrees. A perfect vacation!

Mmm. Soft serve ice cream. This vacation was kind of all about eating.

Every afternoon around 3 p.m. we would have happy hour with cocktails and delicious snacks.

Kyle broke his toe halfway through our vacation. Yuck.

The jet ski died, so Scott had to make a rescue with the kayak.

Kyle spent many days wearing socks in the water to protect his toe. Doesn't he look super cool?

Best friends drinking wine and eating snacks. A perfect afternoon.

OMG. Homemade lobster rolls.

An evening pontoon cruise.

Baked smores! Yum!

Charlotte was a little timid on the waterslide at first, but then she loved it!

Our beautiful vacation home.

August Trip to Michigan Part 1

In August we took a two week trip to Michigan. We started out at Covenant Point, staying with the Stroms and hanging out around camp.

Taking a hike.

Kiddos at Orville's bench.

Picking raspberries.

Playing in the "sandbox."

Doing some exercising with Mommy.

Collecting pine cones at the Hudson's for fall decorating.

Reading a story with Verl.

After our week at camp we headed up and over the bridge to stay at our friends' cottage for a week in Baldwin, Michigan. We stopped in Mackinac City for some fudge, of course!

Home Design, Reading, and Art

Today we took Charlotte to the library to turn in her reading program poster. (She is the queen of wacky smiles lately.)

Because Charlotte had 25 books read to her, she earned a red book bag tote. When we handed in her poster, the children's librarian was asking her questions about the books she read. In a very nice way, it seemed like he was kind of quizzing her to see if she actually read them. Which, we did. We read most of the books, like 20 times as requested by Charlotte. So when he said "How many books did you read?" and Charlotte replied, "Ummm, TWO," or when he said, "What kind of animal is Skippyjonjones" and Charlotte said, "I no read Skippyjonjones," I felt like a stage mom, trying to feed her the correct answers and not for the life of me understanding why she was saying such crazy things.

Last week we refinished our dresser.
