Total Weight Watchers weight loss: 7.6 lbs and going strong.

I discovered that 1/2 c. lowfat ricotta cheese mixed with a packet of Splenda and some fruit tastes like CHEESECAKE. And it’s only 2 points!

I have mysterious blistery-red-itchy things between my second and third toes on both feet. I saw a picture of a gangrenous foot in my CNA textbook and got a little nervous… (and horrified.)

Update: My treadmill will be here in TWO DAYS!!! (Again, along with Dave.)

Kyle is heading down to MidWinter on Sunday. I am sad and a little jealous, but I think it is so exciting for him. I can’t wait to hear all about it and I know he will have a fantastic time learning at all the camp meeting and mingling with all the Covenanters.

On to week 2 of my 5k run-walk training in the -10 weather!

First of all, I am super excited about my treadmill coming in FIVE DAYS! (Along with Dave…).

Second of all, I am super excited about this race.

Thirdly, I wish I lived in Chicago so I could do all of the Fleet Feet races- they all look so fun! Although, they don’t have a race called “Run Your Bass Off” in Chicago, so…

Many of you may know that I do not like dogs.
With that in mind:
I went for a run yesterday down our road. As I turned a corner, a little collie-ish looking thing darted out of it’s drive way and proceeded to “run” (jump at and around my legs) with me for a few minutes. She started darting in and out of cars that were coming, so I thought the humane thing to do (although not what I wanted to do) was to get her to sit until the cars passed. I heard her owner (a one hundred year old man) coming, so I turned and start walking toward him so she would follow me and then GET AWAY from me. She trotted to her owner (who did not grab her by the collar, put a leash on her, etc.) and then the little demon turned and ran, as fast as she could, into my shins, knocking me onto the icy road on my knees. Her owner muttered a half-hearted “You okay?” before carting her away. Thinking back on the moment where she was darting at my legs, I wish I could have wound up and kicked her clear down the street.

In other news, at class the other night I was the only one- out of 20 people- to type our assignment that was due. I even saw an older gentleman hand in a SCRAP of paper with his assignment written on it. I felt a little embarrassed when I looked around- and then my teacher came and grabbed it and started waving it in front of the class, telling them how much she loves typed papers. Oh, Iron River.

We are also practicing hand washing in our class. Our teacher has this stuff called “Glowgerm.” It’s a powder that you rub on your hands and then you wash them following the proper procedure. When you’re done washing she puts your hands under a blacklight and anywhere that you didn’t scrub enough, the powder glows. It is so cool/ gross to think about.

Kyle’s left shoulder has now started bothering him (probably from overcompensation). I have asked him to please take it easy, so that we will not be dealing with a double shoulder surgery/ so I don’t have to have a husband with no arms. Unfortunately, Kyle has never heard of this “take it easy.”

Total Weight Watchers weight loss: 5.2 lbs!
Although, when I got weighed in at the doctor today, I had miraculously lost another 2 lbs in two days, so… maybe 7.2?

I had my first cna class last night and it was wonderful! I loved getting my new textbook and writing in my brand new notebook with a mechanical pencil. My teacher is AWESOME. And, although I am one of the only students who is over 19 and doesn’t already have two kids, I think I’m going to enjoy it!

Kyle purchased a digital antenna to go with our digital receiver and- I wasn’t sure this was possible, but we get even less channels now (which means we went from two to one). Thank God it’s NBC, so I can still watch the Office and Biggest Loser and the Today Show and Martha Stewart and Jeopardy and Judge Judy…

On my way home from work, I (Jenny) thought about my favorite two-song medleys:

1. Aquarius/Let the Sunshine In- The Fifth Dimension
2. No Sugar Tonight/New Mother Nature- The Guess Who
3. Golden Slumbers/Carry That Weight- The Beatles

I found out last week that I DID get into my CNA class. So, I’ll be taking classes three nights a week and by March I’ll be a certified nurse’s aid! In the meantime I work six mornings a week from 6:55 to 8:25 and am quickly growing tired of waking up at 6 every morning. My only morning “off” used to be the morning that I would get up at 5:45 to make it to my 7 a.m. Weight Watchers meeting 40 minutes away. I have since found a meeting in town on Monday evenings, so Wednesday will be my sleep-in day, I guess.

Kyle’s becoming very adept with his left hand- eating, cleaning, hauling large boxes of Christmas decorations to the basement. And he is eagerly awaiting a new, better-fitting, more comfortable sling like a present on Christmas morning.

Well, we’re on our way to try to find healthy, inexpensive food at Angeli’s! Wish us luck!

“I’m learning a lot, here, Jenny.
Like how screwed I am.”
Kyle, researching shoulder dislocations online

Also, I lost 3.2 pounds at my second Weight Watchers meeting. Woohoo!

New year. New President. New haircut. New blog.
